Consumers have a venue to inquire about the cemetery they have loved ones buried in. The Illinois Cemetery and Funeral Home Association has a consumer advocate committee. You can download a form to file an inquiry. The contact link is Icfha.org

The regulatory authority is the IL Department of Financial and Professional Regulations. The contact link is http://www.idfpr.com/cemetery/cemeteryoversight.asp

The International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association also has a cemetery consumer service counsel. The contact link is icfa.org

The Office of the Illinois Comptroller licenses cemeteries who hold care funds for the maintenance of the cemetery. A contact link for that office is ccbt@mail.ioc.state.il.us , or call 877-203-3401.

A consumer should always contact the cemetery office to discuss any inquiries they might have.

All cemeteries are not the same.  When deciding where to bury a loved one the family should always visit the cemetery of their choice and drive the grounds to see how well the cemetery is being taken care of. They should also get consumer information that is needed to make a decision.
