Gus and his Son Clayton

David Augustus Wyatt, Jr.

Born July 5, 1949 in Beckley West Virginia

Friends called him Dave; Family called him Dad or Gus.

He was quite a perky little fellow, who loved to dismantle everything in sight until he turned about 12.

At the age of 4, a car hit Gus. The ambulance came and carried him off while we all screamed and cried. He thought his cast was great!

He grew up in Sauk Village, Illinois playing in basement foundations, running in the creek, shooting bb guns, and playing with his friend Ricky Edleman.

As he grew up, he became close friends with Jimmie Keane and Bruce Bramlett, both musicians who he loved to play music with. He was always jamming with one band or another but stuck mostly with his band "Southern Breeze".

He loved music and was the lead in the plays Bye Bye Birdie and Oklahoma during high school. Because of his great musical talent, a scout from Hollywood wanted to sign him during one of the plays, but Gus just blew it off, and never looked back. He always wanted to be a "Country Singer". He had a voice that combined the sounds of Elvis Pressley, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.

After high school, Gus joined the Army, where he demonstrated a fondness of country. In his pride of America, he became drawn toward the American Bald Eagle. From then on, his love of eagles began He was stationed in Germany, where he met Christel.

He brought Christel state side and they married. A few years later he enjoyed the birth of his son, Clayton. During these times he also enjoyed Christel's girls Pam, Sandy and Theresa.

He was employed for over 30 years at Allied Tube and Conduit in Harvey, Illinois. During his early years, Gus was injured at work when his legs ran through a slitting machine. He had pins put in his legs and never even cried. However, all the women around him were devastated. We cried and cried rushing to the hospital. Gus was laid up quite awhile, but got through it, and went on back to Allied.

He married a second time to Helen Prince. Through the years he enjoyed her children Timmy, Tracy, Tiny and Trina. He always loved to fish with Helen, hunt with Clayton and renovate with Timmy.

All of this time through out his life he played his music and recorded several songs at Tim's studio He was proud of his album and enjoyed giving copies away to friends and family.

Gus always kept in touch with his sisters, Sue, Vickie, and Felice. During his adult years he kept up on his sister's lives and talked to them frequently, always keeping up with what was happening with everyone's family.

Gus finally retired in March of this year...

He crossed over on November 26, 2009.

He was wearing his gold necklace with his eagle on it.
